With funding from the MA Department of Developmental Services Southeastern Regional Training Council, E.K. Shriver Center researchers and self-advocate consultant Nate Trull worked with Barbara Oliver, Online Media Consultant/Presenter (Safer~Social), to develop and deliver Emergency Smarts, a mini-conference for consumers, providers and families focusing on emergency preparedness and social media use during emergencies.
Mr. Trull presented "Getting Ready for Emergencies" and Ms. Oliver presented "Using Smartphones and Social Media for Emergency Help." Participants also had the opportunity to participate in a hands on activity about getting ready for emergencies developed by Mr. Trull.
You may download or print the Emergency Smarts checklist. You may also put it in a plastic sleeve, add a magnet clip, and stick it on your refrigerator.
