The Massachusetts Department of Developmental Services (DDS), in conjunction with the Center for Developmental Disabilities Evaluation and Research, is pleased to present: CPAP/BiPAP Machines as One Treatment Option for Sleep Apnea. Holly Saurman, Director of Respiratory Therapy at Tewksbury Hospital, presents an overview of Sleep Apnea in IDD, CPAP and BiPAP machines (what they are and how they work), DDS Protocols related to Sleep Apnea management, assisting with compliance and usage, and troubleshooting common problems with the machines.
This webinar also includes video demonstrations by Holly Saurman and Steve Nelson, RT, on how to operate CPAPs; an overview of different types of facial masks; how to clean the humidifier chamber, tubes, filters, and masks; and how to use CPAPs with oxygen.
