Shriver Center Participates in Panel on Housing and Residential Supports for Adults on the Autism Spectrum

Terri Farrell, a Project Director in the Autism Insurance Resource Center at the Shriver Center, will serve as panel moderator at an Adult Services Town Hall meeting hosted by Autism Speaks.  The event will take place 6:30 p.m. March 24 at the Hogan Center Ballroom at the College of Holy Cross in Worcester, MA 01610.  The panel will address housing and residential support needs for adults on the autism spectrum.  The goal is to bring together young adults and adults, their families, service providers, and state resources to share information and network.

The panel will include individuals with autism who have secured housing and residential supports, advocates, experts and residential service providers, all of whom are educated and knowledgeable about adult autism services.  In addition to Ms. Farrell, the panel includes Cathy Boyle (Autism Housing Pathways), Mike Moloney (Horace Mann Educational Associates [HMEA] and the Association of Developmental Disabilities Providers [ADDP]), Michael Mayes (self-advocate) and Brian Liu-Constant. (Evergreen Center). Audience members will be given the opportunity to ask questions of panel members.  The Town Hall meeting also includes a resource fair with over 30 vendors planning to participate. Over 100 people have already registered for the event and people from all 6 New England states are expected.
