Leadership in Interdisciplinary Clinical Care Program

This program focuses on exemplary interdisciplinary clinical training for individuals in pre-service programs pursuing masters or doctoral degrees in specific clinical disciplines. Training is carried out in several locations: at our affiliated clinics within UMass Medical School as well as with our clinical training partners at the Tufts Medical Center and the Boston Medical Center.

Training Programs at University of Massachusetts Medical School
Clinical trainees rotate through clinical services associated with Developmental and Behavioral PediatricsFamily Medicine & Community Health and Child Psychiatry and participate in child and family evaluations and attend didactic sessions on issues related to clinical diagnosis and treatment, family centered care, community services, the educational system, and state and federal policies that affect care of special needs children and their families.

Clinical Training Program at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, MA
The Shriver Center has had a ten-year alliance with the Center for Children with Special Needs (CCSN) at Tufts Medical Center. Interdisciplinary evaluations are provided for children with special needs and the Center serves as a training site for interdisciplinary, master's level clinicians. Trainees attend weekly seminars on specific topics or issues provided by LEND faculty. They also participate in field trips to community based special needs schools and programs.
