Understanding autism: Early signs, misleading labels and why support matters

The Shriver Center is engaged in cutting edge research on autism diagnosis and services. From neuroimaging to intervention development, we are running multiple clinical trials to support autistic people’s health and wellbeing.

Sarabeth Broder-Fingert, MD, MPH, professor of pediatrics, vice chair of clinical research in the Department of Pediatrics and the executive director of the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Center at UMass Chan Medical School recently spoke about the evolving understanding of autism, early detection and the importance of language.
