ECHO Autism & IDD Trainings
AUTISM DIAGNOSIS TRAINING FOR PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIANS
We conduct trainings for primary care pediatricians to learn to diagnose autism. We offer both synchronous and asynchronous trainings for pediatricians to learn diagnostic tools, communication with families and community providers, billing, and other needs for primary care training in practice. We can also support pediatricians in learning to use and interpret novel technologies to enhance their diagnostic efforts. Most synchronous trainings are virtual and are held for an hour bi-weekly for 6-months.

ECHO AUTISM AND INTELLECTUAL AND DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES (IDD)
We train child and adolescent mental health providers across all of the Community Behavioral Health Centers in Massachusetts with the best evidence-based practices so that they can more readily assist children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or intellectual or developmental disabilities (I/DD) during a behavioral health crisis and during ongoing behavioral health care. Learners consist of social workers, licensed mental health clinicians, psychologists, nurses, family partners and psychiatrists who conduct assessments and treatment of individuals with autism and/or IDD who have behavioral health conditions. The goal is to reduce the number of children and adults with autism and/or I/DD who are boarding in emergency rooms, and to reduce the number of these individuals who require inpatient hospitalization by increasing the number of community mental health clinicians who have expertise in working with these populations.
